Result: A marginal improvement though not significant (p>/=0.05) in the CD4 counts (489.8+/-195.2; 419.1+/-236.2) and viral load (5117.8+/-26092.0;31136.7+/-197954.6) of HIV patients on herbal drugs compared to those who are not on herbal drugs. There are no significant associations (p>/=0.05) between socio-demographic data and use of herbal medicine. However, there is a significant difference (p=0.05) between use of complementary herbal medicine and adverse effects of antiretroviral therapy.
